Jessica Patton

Director of Operations

Jessica Patton joined the Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas in 2022 as Director of Operations. She brings over two decades of experience in providing direct services, administrative management, relationship building with key stakeholders, and supporting program staff in delivering the mission in the community. Jessica gained a passion for working with individuals with Down syndrome when she worked for over 12 years for Best Buddies International, a nonprofit focused on inclusion for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She is particularly passionate about expanding opportunities for independence for adults with Down syndrome with a focus on competitive employment and self-advocacy.

Julia Forslund

Programs and Events manager

A St. Louis native, Julia moved to Texas to attend Texas Christian University. After graduation, Julia moved down to Austin to join the DSACT team in June 2021. She is so grateful to be a part of this wonderful organization! Her prior nonprofit experience includes fundraising, finance, and sponsorship positions for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. From a young age, Julia also worked and volunteered in the disability community.

At DSACT, Julia organizes the social and recreational programs throughout the year including larger community events like the Holiday Party and the Summer Family Day. She always wants to hear your ideas for a new program, so please reach out! Additionally, she manages the various fundraising events like the Buddy Walk, Cocktail Bash, Austin Marathon and Year End Giving.

In her free time, Julia enjoys traveling, crafting, going on walks with her dog, and spending time with friends and family!

Jami Dean

Education and outreach Manager

Jami was born and raised in Springfield, MO.  She graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Elementary Education and taught in both Missouri and Oklahoma before relocating with her family to the  Austin area in 2014.  She has over a decade of experience working with students with disabilities, most recently, teaching as a Resource/Inclusion Teacher at Round Rock ISD.  Jami is a dedicated advocate for inclusivity in education and beyond. Throughout her career, she's had the privilege of working with diverse learners, collaborating with educators, medical professionals, and families to promote best practices for those with disabilities. 

She is excited to join DSACT in their mission to provide education, support, and resources to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, professionals, and the community while building public awareness and acceptance of the abilities of individuals with Down syndrome.
