Welcome to DSACT's Social Groups! Whether you are new to DSACT or have been a member for a while, if you haven't joined your social group, now's your chance. Each social group meets up about once a month to enjoy a nice activity together, allowing the children/teens/adults to play and parents/guardians to mingle.
We encourage children, teens, and adults with Down syndrome to continue their social activities and relationships in the community as much as possible. DSACT social groups are meant to enhance social lives, not be the only form of social activity.
All who attend DSACT programs and events are required to agree to our participation waiver, available here.
Baby Talk
Baby Talk is a DSACT group for children with Down syndrome between the ages of 0-2 years as well as their parents and siblings. We also welcome any expecting parents to join the group.
Baby Talk meets monthly at a variety of locations. If your family is interested in joining in on the social activities, please become a DSACT member and we will be in touch!*
INKDOTs
InkDots is a DSACT group for children with Down syndrome between the ages of 3-5 years and their siblings.
The InkDots social playgroup meets one Saturday each month at varying times in rotating locations. If your family is interested in joining in on the social activities, please become a DSACT member and we will be in touch!*
KIDSACT
KiDSACT is a free DSACT group for children with Down syndrome between the ages of 6-12 years and their siblings.
The KiDSACT social playgroup meets monthly at various fun locations throughout the Austin area. If your family is interested in joining in on the social activities, please become a DSACT member and we will be in touch!*
Teen Group
The Teen Group is a DSACT group for teens with Down syndrome between the ages of 13-19. The Teen Group meets on the second Sunday of each month from 2-4pm at a local YMCA to build social skills, have fun with friends, and dance. A recreational therapist facilitates the group. Parents are welcome to stay at the YMCA (outside of the meeting room) or drop their teen and return. There are also community outings for typical teen activities like swimming, bowling, and going to movies. If your teen is interested in joining in on the social activities, please become a DSACT member and we will be in touch!*
Adult Group
Our Adult group is for individuals with Down syndrome age 20 and up. The Adult Group meets on the fourth Sunday of each month from 2-4pm at a local YMCA or in the community to build social skills, have fun with friends, and dance. A recreational therapist facilitates the group. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay (outside the meeting room) or drop off and return by 4:00pm. *By joining any of DSACT's social groups, you certify that you and all participants from your party are in good health and have no physical or other impediment which would endanger any party while participating. You agree (on behalf of yourself, your heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns) to release, discharge, waive and relinquish DSACT (or its officers, agents, employees, volunteers) from any and all liabilities, claims, or actions for personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death which may arise out of participation. You grant permission to DSACT to use any/all photos or videos taken of you and all participants from your party for any DSACT promotional purpose, including but not limited to the website, newsletter, brochures, sponsor letters, or other promotional items.
