welcome, Families!

We are dedicated to providing information and materials that you can use to be empowered to teach your child with Down syndrome. As you plan your approach, remember to focus on their ABILITIES versus disabilities.

Have questions or concerns or looking for another resource? Contact DSACT at admin@dsact.org or (512) 323-0808.

Early Childhood Intervention

Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a statewide program for families with children, birth to 3 years of age with disabilities or developmental delays. ECI supports families to help their children reach their potential through developmental services such as physical, occupation, and speech therapies; case management; and nutrition services. ECI services are provided in your child’s natural environment (e.g., your home or your child’s daycare).

Parent companion

Parent Companion is is a great resource guide for Texas parents and caregivers of children with diagnosed or suspected disabilities for birth through five years of age.

Local Preschools

The daycares/preschools listed below have staff with specific training in special education for babies and toddlers with disabilities:

Open Door Preschools

Sammy’s House Child Development Center

The Rise School of Austin

Preschools and daycares are often very willing to work with children with special needs and it is well worth having a discussion with a center in which you are interested. If you have other children attending a different center and would like all your children to be at the same center, DSACT is happy to provide assistance with training and consultation. Please contact us at admin@dsact.org to discuss.
